Women preparing pitha (rice cake) and other food items during the fair ’Bhogali Aiyojan’ organized by Chira Seuz Kala Kristhi Bikash Kendra ahead of the Bhogali Bihu/Magh Bihu celebrations, at the Lakhidhar Bora Khetra in Guwahati on Tuesday. With Bhogali Bihu approaching, preparations have started across the State. Bhogali Bihu is a harvest festival and it marks the end of the harvesting season. Since the granaries are full, there is a lot of feasting and eating during this period. Hay structures called bhela ghars are constructed and mejis are erected. (Sentinel)
