Assam Society Malaysia (ASM)
We are a knot tied together by a common thread; a cluster of "khar-khuwa"s in the land of Nasi Lemak. And what unites us is our common longing for our home; the beautiful land of blue hills and red river, Assam. Living away from home in a foreign country is never easy, but we believe that a friendly face here and a warm smile there, makes it all okay. And so here we are, brought together in this camaraderie, to make sure that no one has to spend a lonely Bihu, or dance a lonely Bihu dance; that one will always find company to eat "masor tenga" or "narikol pitha"; that there will not be a dearth of friends to talk about the greatness of Bhupen Hazarika songs or the magnificience of the Mugar Mekhela Sador. They say, home is where the heart is, and the heart of our home, Assam, is culture. It is thus our ardent desire to ensure that our rich Assamese cultural heritage continues to flourish and prosper in our midst even though we are a thousand miles away from our homeland.Keeping in mind this motive, we invite all our Assamese friends to toss ideas, to spark discussions and to share their wisdom and experiences, so we can turn this place into a home away from home. www.assamsocietymalaysia.website.org
